This was my first purchase of Terrex anything (now I have a lot) and I never knew how thin/shallow the trousers were until putting them on and going out in the rain. It’s a strong thumbs up for me when it came to water protection. Never felt a drop of water during bad weather which was perfect. However now than I’ve been through a number of wet weather situations I am now wearing these bottoms with either cold ready leggings or a slim but warm tracksuit bottom. I can’t take the cold that these trousers don’t protect you from (which I’m not saying that’s the purpose of these bottoms) so I’m always doubled up when wearing these. As I said for water these are great. I haven’t used the tie at the bottom as I usually wear my Stellar Free Hiker GTX boots so the trousers just fall over them in wet weather. The pockets on your hip are good enough (not zipped) & the two pockets on your thighs/knees are deep enough for a lot of things. These pockets are Velcro and not zipped. I hope this helps.

I cant recommend, but this is a personal opinion on the product style. I understand they are cargo pants, but they are so wide at the top of the leg.
